Apr 14 (Sun) – Update
Here’s a timely update on a glorious spring day.
It’s late in the morning and I’ve already taken care of a few things. The (main part of the) back yard is free of dandelion flowers and doggo extrusions. It already seems warm out so good to get those things done at least once early in the day as summer approaches..
Breakfast was no big deal. I was thinking of making something with an egg in it but decided against it.

Lydia spent another night feeling poorly. She turned her nose up at breakfast but was outside with me while I tended the yard. If this continues we’ll look into the situation.

Unfinished business from yesterday: the neighbor’s yard. I finished the yard but I wasn’t able to get to composting before it closed. So the first order of business is to drop those off, then swing by the supermarket for apples, some decent sandwich buns (hopefully) and some borax to feed to a few pesky ants that have infiltrated this here domicile.

Upon return to this here domicile I will jockey the cars around and get started on attair engine hahniss. No Vander Veer today. Cheers.

So, Borax does the trick? I get those pesty ants every year about this time. In the past I’ve poured vinegar down the kitchen sink drains and that seems to help quite a bit.

Borax works real good and is arguably better than using an insecticide. In the past I’ve mixed my own (borax, sugar, and water - recipes are on line) and also used off-the-shelf premixed. The pre-mixed is inexpensive and comes in a variety of containers. I just buy a small bottle of the pre-mixed ($4) (less plastic and less mess) and drip a bit onto small pieces of shiny paperboard I steal from my recycle bin. Set those paperboard jobbies on the counter or the base of the wall. The ants overdose on the stuff, take it back to the nest, and kill the nest. It takes a a few days for ‘em to disappear, just be patient.
